Almost a year ago, my fellow bridesmaids and I decided to give our favorite bride a really special wedding gift. Since Kay wanted a really unique wedding theme that was completely DIY, she knew that ordinary David’s Bridal Bridesmaid dresses just wouldn’t do. I know an extremely talented dress designer who ended up making our dresses for Kay and Josh’s big day. Kay was having trouble finding the perfect southern/lacey/dramatic/vavavoom wedding gown, so the girls and I got together and gave her this little letter stuffed in a tiny gift bag during one of our bridesmaid fittings…
Needless to say, Kay’s dress was uniquely designed and stitched with love by Kim Glass, but it wasn’t the dress that made this bride beautiful… it was her bright smile, contagious laugh, and tenacious attitude. I’ve had to keep these beautiful portraits under wraps for 21 really really really long days and I’m so very proud to present this series as my very first blog post from Brook Rudolph Photography. This gal has supported me since day one and I couldn’t be more thankful for the encouragement and genuine photog related excitement she has shared with me over the last decade of our bestfriendship. Since I wasn’t able to be her lead photographer on her wedding day (because I was her Maid of Honor), it was so important and special to me that I got to take these photos for Kaylyn. These pictures were taken on the rainiest day of the year with rain drops pounding on the tin roof of the barn at De Starte Bed & Breakfast in Lawndale, NC. Not exactly the ideal shooting conditions, but the rain didn’t slow us down a bit. What do you guys think?
Let me repeat this… THIS dress was HANDMADE by the most fabulous dress designer I know… Kim Glass, YOU are talented beyond words.
Well, there just can’t be bridal portraits being made without a little silliness.
You better get your tissues out for this next set of images… Kay’s dad hadn’t gotten to see her in her wedding gown yet & so we set up a first-look to be photographed while he was in town. Kay’s the biggest Daddy’s girl I know and this was so awesome to photograph… everyone was crying! LOVE it!
My favorite picture is below on the left… both of them wiping tears.
Kay showing her dad & god mommy that she could still break it down in her wedding gown.
A little sneak peek of the behind-the-scenes action. Can you believe that at one time while these images were being taken there were 13 people in the room with us? Three of the thirteen being children?? And Kaylyn still looked fabulous & kept her cool.
Well, isn’t this GORG? What’s even cooler is that this was her God mother’s quilt.
