Engaged // Kevin & Heather // Vesuvius Vineyards // Iron Station, NC

engagement session in iron station ncI don’t want to call myself a psychic, but I’ll throw it out there that I had a pretty good idea that these two would eventually end up together. Heather and Kevin became very close in high school and Heather and I shared a table together in Art class our senior year. I remember numerous conversations about how buddy buddy she and Kevin were. Clearly he was in love and for some reason she was playing hard to get. I remember one day in particular that Heather told me that she had counted up that she and Kevin had texted back and forth over 500 times in one week… That’s a lot of texts for this day and time, but think about how much crazier that was 8 years ago having to use your dial pad to text. Again… clearly they were both smitten, before they were an actual couple.

Once they ran off to college (Heather at ECU and Kevin at NC State), they didn’t let the distance keep them apart and made things official between the two of them. While on a cruise celebrating their anniversary this past spring, Kevin asked Heather to marry him. These two will be wed Summer of 2015 near their hometown at Vesuvius Vineyards in Iron Station, NC. I’m so excited that they’ve asked me to be their wedding photographer!!

Bridals // Karla’s Bridal Session // Brakefield at Riverwalk // Rock Hill, SC

Bridal Portraits At BrakefieldI’ve known Karla since middle school and I felt so honored to be asked to photograph this amazing time in her life. For her bridal session, we went to her wedding venue at Brakefield at Riverwalk in Rock Hill, SC. Her venue was stunning and the staff went WAY over the top with making sure that our needs were met. We’d thank the coordinator, Kelly, over and over when she’d help us move something, open something, get the leaves blown off the lawn, or windows streak-free ( no, we didn’t ask for any of that, she just did it because she’s awesome ). Every time, she’d just say, “It’s no big deal. It’s my pleasure. Why are you thanking me?” Even though these things may sound little or “no big deal,” it really said something to me about the way a Bride and Groom should be treated during this time in their lives. Often, wedding vendors tend to think that it’s all about them (their needs, their rules, their expectations of the bride and groom, etc) when in reality, it’s the complete opposite. When you build good relationships with clients and make them feel special, you’ll gain new clients in return. In a world full of people who think it’s all about “me, me, me”, I’m so glad that Karla got to work with a venue that KNEW that it was really all about her.
sc wedding photographerk4PTM Storyboard 2 Up VerticalFunny story. Karla REALLY wanted a portrait made with the sign she is holding below. Her mom went with us during her bridal session and we had to think of how we were going to pull off this portrait without her mom knowing. First, Karla put the sign in the back of her car. As I arrived to her house where we’d ride to the venue together, her mom ran outside and tried to help me move all of my equipment from one car to the other. Karla busts out of her front door and says, “MOM! Can you come back inside PLEASE? I need you for something.” Meanwhile pointing and mouthing at me about the sign being in the back of the car. From there I put the sign in my equipment case so her mom wouldn’t see us carry it into the venue. Once the time came for us to take the photo, I had to lie to her mom and ask her to go to the car to try to find my “purple folder that I had left in the backseat… but maybe in the trunk.” She totally fell for it and our performance of the day was priceless! This shot was totally worth the effort:)

Wedding day // Brittany & Adam // Rock Springs Campground // Denver, NC

bride and groom

Brittany and Adam’s wedding was so sweet!  These two are so relaxed, fun-loving, & adorable. Add in a venue that’s close to our hometown’s heritage, Rock Springs Campground, the most inviting and personable group of family & friends all more than ready to celebrate their union and you’ve got a pretty awesome wedding.  Love love loved getting to document their very special day!  Hope you enjoy some (or a ton) of my favorites…

Also… Before you start scrolling by, here is a sneak peek slideshow that I sent Brittany and Adam (P.S. I’m adding this a couple months after I originally posted this blog) This slideshow was the first glimpse of what Brittany and Adam got to see of their wedding images. Now, months later, I recently met up with her newly engaged sister to discuss her wedding photography and Brittany said… “As her big sister and MOH, I wasn’t going to let her use any other photographer other than you for her wedding. My experience with you throughout my entire wedding planning and wedding day process was amazing. I especially loved my slideshow… and I even watch it from time to time to cheer me up when I’m having a bad day.” And THAT last line, my friends, is EXACTLY why I love my job and my clients <3 This video is pretty short, so I really encourage you to watch it, if you have the time!

Instead of a traditional unity candle, Brittany and Adam were given a cross made from two planks from Brittany’s Family’s tent at the campground. (In case you don’t know the history behind the Rock Springs Campground, these planks are hundreds of years old) The cross had three cords on it which they braided during their ceremony. One cord represented Adam’s Family, one cord represented Brittany’s family, and the third cord represented God.s23PTM Storyboard 2 Up Verticals24PTM Storyboard 3 Up Bafter the ceremonybridal partywedding partysoda toastrustic wedding decorations in denver nccake cuttingfirst dancedancing with fathergift for father of the groomBrittany’s gift to her dad for the wedding, was the tie above. Bridals // Brittany’s Bridal Portraits // Maiden, NC

Brittany is so beautiful from the inside out. Seriously. She made me feel like I had known her for years from the very first moment that I met her. She’s outgoing and downright hilarious, whether she means to be funny or not. She’s just a happy person that you’ll find yourself wanting to hang out with 24/7. I guess her new husband, Adam, is lucky since he’ll get to share the most laughs with her in the future.
